Saiduth Ramesh
MSc. Motorsport Engineering graduate
(Oxford Brookes University, 2019)

Hi, I'm Saiduth. Welcome to my portfolio website.
I am a motorsport enthusiast from India with a passion for Race Engineering.
I recently completed my postgraduate studies at Oxford Brookes University and thereby obtained an MSc. in Motorsport engineering with distinctions in Vehicle dynamics, Laptime simulation & Race engineering and Dissertation in September 2019.
I worked on a Track Characterisation project with AVL Racing to develop a preliminary vehicle setup and race engineering tool as a part of my MSc. thesis (dissertation).
Over the course of my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I was an active member of the Formula Student teams of the Universities. This has resulted in me developing refined communication skills, the ability to work in a diverse environment and technical knowledge in aerodynamic and vehicle dynamic component design. I have also developed team leadership and business development skills through my involvement in the business plan creation for the teams. I look to expanding my knowledge in advanced vehicle dynamics and powertrain engineering to apply in the field of laptime simulation and race strategy development.
The image below is a skill tree highlighting the various technical assets attained through the Motorsport Engineering course. Primary skills are highlighted in green and secondary skills are in orange.

Projects
The images below are links to the various projects and research tasks assigned and completed through the course of the MSc. program.

Formula Student experience
Camber Racing – Formula Student combustion (2014-2018)
I worked in the formula student combustion team during my 4 years of undergraduate studies at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, India (B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Class of 2018).
I had the opportunity to work in the following positions during these 4 years.

Aerodynamicist (2014-2017)
Primary responsibilities included the conceptual development of aerodynamic devices using CFD and CAD along with manufacturing the devices using carbon fiber layup techniques.
Software used: Star CCM+, Solidworks, OptimumLap, Javafoil
Cars developed: CR16, CR18

Driver (2015-2018)
I was one of the designated drivers for 5 different events attended by the team over a span of 4 years.
These included:
Skid pad driver – Formula Student India 2016
Skid pad driver – Formula Student Germany 2016
Autocross and Endurance driver – Formula Bharat 2017
Autocross and Endurance driver – Formula Bharat 2018
Skid pad, Autocross and Endurance driver – SUPRA SAE India 2018
Team captain (2017-2018)
Primary responsibilities included creating and maintaining the season timeline, developing budget presentations, leading the team through the season and the development of event strategies and timelines.
Events attended
Events attended during the tenure in Camber Racing included:
Formula Student India 2016 (January, Buddh International Circuit, Delhi, India)
Formula Student Germany 2016 (August, Hockenheimring-Baden Wurtemburg, Germany)
Formula Bharat 2017 (January, Kari Motor speedway, Coimbatore, India)
Formula Bharat 2018 (January, Kari Motor speedway, Coimbatore, India)
SUPRA SAE India 2018 (June, Buddh International Circuit, Delhi, India)
Oxford Brookes Racing – Autonomous (2019)
During my MSc. at Oxford Brookes, I had the opportunity to work in the Formula Student AI team at the university.
My primary responsibility was to develop the business plan for the event held at Silverstone in July, 2019.
The role included analyzing the current CAV (Connected Autonomous vehicle) market and technology associated with it and running a market study to understand commercial usage of the same. It also involved actively working alongside industry professionals from Streetdrone, Roborace and the Oxfordshire County Council.
